Career events: en route for the future

Each year, Institut Paul Bocuse’s Business Engagement office organises numerous exchange and networking events* to enable students and graduates to meet leading companies from the sector.

The benefit for students is to be able to plan a career path, a profession or a project and to seize career opportunities through direct contact with companies. For employers, the benefit is to raise their profile and reputation, and to recruit promising profiles for internships or jobs, both in France and overseas.

*In view of the COVID-19 health situation, all the 2020-2021 season events were exceptionally organised remotely.

Career Talks: learning about industry trends from leading professionals

Our ‘Career Talks’ conferences and debates led by professionals from the culinary arts, food service and hospitality industries are unrivalled opportunities for students to learn more about the leading figures in our professions, so that they can plan for an exciting future career.

It is also an opportunity to illustrate the variety of sectors to which students have access during their internships or future employment: from luxury to lifestyle hotels, not forgetting gastronomic food service and mass catering or even the events industry

Last season, no less than 14 Career Talks were hosted by particularly inspiring personalities, including:

  • Jessica Préalpato, voted best pastry chef in the world in 2019 by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants. She is Head Pastry Chef at Alain Ducasse’s Plaza Athénée
  • Serge Trigano, the famous Founder of the lifestyle hotel chain Mama Shelter
  • Chef Yves Camdeborde, considered to be the father of Bistronomic food
  • Maud Bailly, CEO Southern Europe at Accor
  • Christophe Juville, founder of Spok restaurants

Career Match events: seizing internship or job opportunities through targeted job dating meetings

Our ‘Career Match’ events are true recruitment forums, providing students with a range of employment opportunities directly on campus. They also allow them to have one-on-one discussions with employers from the hospitality, food service and culinary arts industries, to better understand their needs and to be better prepared for the realities of the job market.

During the 3 Career Match events organised this year, 740 interviews took place with 106 employers from 58 companies, who came to discuss and propose more than 350 offers to our students and graduates.

As a result, each year more than a third of our graduates are recruited directly on campus.

Personalised support towards employability

Our close and everyday links with industry professionals ensure that our students and graduates are ready for employment beyond any borders.  Our Business Engagement Department is in contact with more than 800 leading partner companies in our sectors and selects the best internship and job offers for our students and graduates.  This season, more than 1,200 offers were posted on “Network”, a platform exclusively designed for the Institut Paul Bocuse community.
